Please join Great Falls Senior Center members in a local history trip to the old Lorton prison complex, now the Workhouse Arts Center, plus a luncheon buffet at Laurel Hill Country Club. “The Workhouse Arts Center, once a former prison, is now a flourishing arts community that is home to over 100 of the finest regional artists, with a rich local and national history.The Workhouse has a beautiful campus open year round to the public, with eight artist studio buildings, two main galleries, a prison museum, cafe, gift shop and art supply store...” The GF Seniors will be attending a presentation at 11:00 am in the prison museum on the history of the prison and transformation to the Workhouse Arts Center and the history of the suffragists who were incarcerated there in 1917. There will be a brief time to visit the gift store before heading to lunch. After the presentation, we will be having lunch at 1:00 pm at the Laurel Hill Golf & Country Club, Tower Grill. The menu is: Buffet House salad Dinner Rolls Chicken Marsala with Marsala, Sweet Wine & Fresh Mushroom Demy Glaze Rice Beef stew with potatoes and vegetables Dessert - Brownie (no nuts) Beverage - water, ice tea, lemonade included but Sodas, coffee & hot tea, $2.50 extra Price for this event $31.00 or $33.00 IF you want soda, coffee or hot tea. The pricing is all inclusive for driver tip, country club buffet meal including meal, tax and tip. Transportation and Workhouse Arts Center are of no cost to participants.
